Supporting Student Outcomes with the Idaho Department of Education (IDE)

Addressing State Priorities with NWCC

The Northwest Comprehensive Center (NWCC) partners with the Idaho Department of Education (IDE) to address key challenges and opportunities facing students, educators, and communities across the state. Key IDE priorities include:

  • Updating mathematics standards
  • Strengthening replicable, efficient IDE systems
  • Improving supports for educator ethics

  • Together, NWCC and IDE are addressing Idaho’s state priorities through the following projects.

Standards Review Tools and Processes

Standards Review Tools and Processes

NWCC is supporting IDE to update its standards review framework, then will use the framework to facilitate standards review and document steps for standards revision in math, English language arts, and science. The project will result in the updated framework and a standards review handbook, tools that support a more structured process that can be repeated for future standards revisions.

Educator Ethics

Educator Ethics Trainings

NWCC is developing a set of training materials to strengthen understanding and application of the Idaho Code of Ethics for Educators. The materials highlight areas of the code that are frequently misunderstood to improve practice and reduce preventable investigations. Designed specifically for the Idaho context, the training materials give IDE a sustainable system for guiding districts while ensuring that guidance aligns with state policies.
